Regulations related to the display and dimensions of flags Ships longer than 100 m hoist a flag with dimensions of 2.10 x 1.40 m. Ships shorter than 100 m hoist a flag with dimensions of 1.20 x 0.80 m. Boats hoist a flag with dimensions of 0.50 x 0.30 m. Maritime ships always display a flag, especially during the day (from sunrise to sunset), namely: - When entering, leaving, or during their stay in a port or at anchor; - Out at sea, when foreign warships are in sight - if those ships are displaying a flag; - When making contact with other ships or land, while navigating rivers, canals, and lakes; - If the coastal regulations of the coastal state require so in the territorial sea or internal waters the ship is entering; - If you notice an aircraft flying low in your vicinity. In that case, raise the flag on the mast or at another location visible from the aircraft. Inland navigation vessels and boats hoist a flag from sunrise to sunset.
